Carme Burke's $500 Matching Donation Challenge - $395
Thanks to all of you wonderful, compassionate people, Carme Burke's NYC matching Donation Challenge from Arthur and Rob is already at $395. We still have a way to go to raise the entire amount needed by TUESDAY morning, but this gets us much closer.
Carme Burke - surgery fund update
NYC has come through again for little fluffers - Our good friends and avid shih tzu lovers, Arthur and Rob, from NYC, have issued a matching donation challenge for our little Carme's orthopedic surgery. They will match each donation up to a total of $500 for little Carme. We still need $105 to get the match completed. Go go go !! Forward this to friends and coworkers who love little dogs, but may not know about this need!
Carme's story
Little Carme Burke was rescued from the Pasadena Animal Control with a broken leg. After our vet examined her, he found that her leg had healed in the broken position. So, we were left with two options - amputate the leg or get her down to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists for an orthopedic specialist to fix it.
We took her for a consult with Dr. Brian Beale who is very certain that she can be fixed - his surgery estimate will total around $3,000. HERE is the original post about her situation.
As of Sunday morning, just a few days from her scheduled surgery, we have raised $825. YIKES time is short!
Huge thanks to Sarah Cabello, Marilyn Radler, Doug Cameron, Vicki Wakefield, Darnell Hester, Joyce and Mike Tate in memory of beautiful Star, Jeff Helton in memory of Casey, Mary Hailey, Mary Kay Moore, Lorna Van DeWeile, Julie Roberts, Donna Ferris in honor of Carme's twin in Heaven, Sally, Anna Dee Lastik, Janet Bello, Lorraine Bucklan, Gail Ciesielski, Joyce Ycasas, Lael Ward in honor of my two beautiful girls, Casey and Kelly - I love you and miss you, Trisha Havis, Nancy Cowart, Lorraine Bucklan (again), Christine Hutchison, Eugene Bonos, Lisa Schwartz, Michael and Cheryl Oyaski, Leanne Wheatley. You all ROCK!
We have scheduled her surgery for Tuesday, Nov 3. If we don't do it then, we'll have to hold off for two weeks while Dr. Beale, the orthopedic miracle worker, is out of town. This is Dr. Beale with Carme during the consult. He, like the entire staff at GCVS, totally fell in love with her.
